Clarksdale, Mississippi's real-deal "torchbearer of the blues," Anthony "Big A" Sherrod learned blues guitar, bass, drums and singing from all of the Clarksdale, Lambert, Shelby and Alligator, Mississippi, blues legends who came before — performing with the likes of Big Jack Johnson, Super Chikan, Big George Brock, Bilbo Walker, Wesley "Junebug" Jefferson, "Mr. Johnnie" Billington, "Dr. Mike" James, Miss Gladys and many others. Big A is a supreme talent, and one of the greatest juke-joint-electric guitarists of his generation. He's also a human jukebox and keeper of the "Clarksdale songbook." (I once took him to Israel to play three events over three days, and during his 6+ hours of performing, he only repeated one song.) Anyway, he's a personal favorite, so I'm thrilled for his "Right on Time" CD to be back in print, and remastered to boot! Get it while you can. - Roger Stolle (Cat Head)
